Top Young Soccer Players Likely to Move Abroad (or to a bigger team atleast)

*There is a 2012 version of this post. Check it out here*

Soccer is one of the hardest sports to pick out some of the best up and coming soccer players (although Arsene Wenger seems to be very good at it). Here are some that you may already know and maybe one or two you may not have heard of.

Update: February 14/2012

This is a long overdue update to the list. Its been 2 years since I initially posted it and after dozens of comments and over 10,000 views, its finally time to update the status of all the players in the article.

Alexis Sanchez - Udinese - 21

The young Chilean is one the players to watch in this years World Cup. At his best he reminds me of a tricky little monkey. Small, quick, agile, all perfect traits of a very effective winger. With a bag of tricks and abundance of speed, he gets by defenders easily and looks cool doing it. IMO he is the soccer version of Barry Sanders (for all of you who don't know who he is, just one of the greatest running backs to ever play in the NFL..just youtube him) Alex Ferguson has been watching him ever since R9 moved to Real Madrid and supposedly Udinese have slapped on a 20 million price tag on his head.

*For the people who watched the video, this kid did a fake rabona which was pretty dope (dope means cool btw)

Potential Clubs: Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Lyon

Estimated Value: 20 million

Update: Who would have known he would have gone to Barcelona for 26 million.

Micah Richards - Manchester City - 21

The Englishman has long been on the radar of some of the big clubs in England and although he's missed out a chance in Fabio Capello's squad, he's definitely going to be on some managers shopping list. Since joining Man City as a trainee, he's developed a reputation for being a no nonsense defender. The boy has got strength, athleticism, heart and the technique to carry himself on the pitch. With all the arab money Man City can get their hands on, they probably wouldn't even care if they lost one of the best right backs in soccer right now.

Potential Clubs: Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Wolfsburg, Real Madrid (there linked to almost everyone so I'm pretty sure there looking at Micah as well)

Estimated Value: 10-15 million

Mesut Ozil - Werder Bremen - 21

Mesut has been hyped up for a few years now. Nicknamed the new Diego by the Werder Bremen faithful, he has certainly made sure that the fans forgot about the cunning Brazilian. With his wacky hair certainly represents his flair for the game. With accurate passes, goals from sharp angles, Ozil is the future of the German national team. Be sure to watch him at this years World Cup.

Potential Clubs: Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City

Estimated Value: 15 - 20 million

Update: Headed over to Madrid for 15 million.

Eljero Elia - Hamburger SV - 23

How to describe Eljero Elia??? The younger Ryan Babel. Both players pack a punch. They both can use there speed to skip past defenders at ease. Both have an array flicks and tricks that breaks down defenses. What makes Elia different? He performs on a consistent basis. Part of the 23 man squad for the Oranje, he may not start because of deep attacking talent (Robben and Van Persie are just an amazing duo but Robben might have an injury scare) but do expect him to be used as a super sub. A talented young duo with all the skills to be successful in a bigger league.

Potential Clubs: Liverpool, Man City, Juventus, Tottenham

Estimated Value: 12-15 million

Update: Juventus got a nice deal for 9 million.

Hatem Ben Arfa - Marseille - 23

Hailed as a prodigy since he was 15 years old, Arfa graduated from the famous Clairefontaine academy. Part of the dynamic duo at Lyon with Karim Benzema, he contains tons of pace, excellent dribbling skills, a very tricky winger through and through. His only downside is that he does not have the maturity that another player his age or experience has. Arguments with teammates and coaches have seen him been transferred from Lyon to Marseille. Despite his temper tantrums, the talent is there…all he really needs is a manager that will whip him into shape (Sir Alex comes into mind ;) ) Picked to play in the World Cup for France, be sure to look out for him because he sure can play.

Potential Clubs: Manchester United, Everton, PSG, Tottenham

Estimated Value: 10-15 million

Update: Newcastle are making some shrewd purchases as of late. Ben Arfa transfer was undisclosed.

Eden Hazard - Lille - 19

If you have not heard of him yet *sigh*, just watch the video below:

This kid can put on a show and then some. With some very tricky moves, he makes defenders look like their playing in a Sunday League. He won the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award for the second time in a row (he's just that good).

Potential Clubs: Arsenal, Man United, Inter, Barcelona, Real Madrid

He's personally said he would only move to Arsenal but we know how soccer players roll these days (C.R.E.A.M).

Estimated Value: $20 million

Eden Hazard looks as though he is going to be a real quality player. Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool are supposedly all very keen to sign him. Premier League player next season perhaps?

Eden Hazard is exceptional. Haven't seen so much creativity since a young Cristiano Ronaldo...I actually don't think he will move to the premier league. Spending has really gone done amongst the big 4. I am going to say he moves to either Lyon or Marseille or maybe even Russia because Russia always seems to get money from out of nowhere

Don't think Micah Richards will go abroad, will probably stay wih top english clubs that have places in europe.

Hatem Ben Arfa is now at my club Newcastle United, which I'm over the moon about before getting his leg broken he looked really classy and I can't wait for him to be back playing at the end of the season.

Mesut Ozil will probably end up at Man Utd there was talk of it last summer but never came off.

Great hub will have to look up the other players.

yea the micah richards transfer talk really died down a lot. Hatem Ben Arfa is just an amazingly talented player and I really hope when he comes back he won't show signs of rust.

I'll make another hub for this summer for the new set of players that have emerged this year.

A couple of players in the list that I had never heard of so I'll be keeping my eye on them for the future. Ozil is a superb player and will be one of the best in the world I reckon. Was a real shame that Ben Arfa broke his leg soon after arriving in the Premier League. He would be a good signing for The Toon. As for Micah Richards, it's almost like he started believing his own hype for a season or so. He needs to kick on now otherwise he will join the long list of players who never fulfilled their huge potential

I personally believe that you are missing a couple of key players. How about Asamoah Gyan from Sunderland- played on the Ghana team. Even a person like Luis Suarez of Ajax or maybe even a young talent such as stekelenburg. He is wanted by Man United so maybe just add to ur list

tazzmania89 Hub Author 14 months ago

well i tried to make a list of the "Top Young Soccer Players...". Asamoah Gyan is 25 and Luis Suarez is 24 (he plays for liverpool now btw). 25 and 24 is a bit old for this type of list.

Fantastic Hub, as we know now Alexis Sanchez is now plying his trade with Barcelona, Micah Richards is plugging along holding onto his right back spot at Premier League leaders Man City, Mesut Ozil playing for the glacticos, Elia for Juventus and Hatem Ben Arfa for Newcastle who are unbeaten in the prem this year. Eden Hazard is the only one not to move on to brighter pastures but is the most sought after player in Europe! So a year on after making the post you have hit the nail on the head with every player showing of a top football fan.

Erik Lamela is a guy who shows real promise. Wouldn't be surprised if united went for him. Great prospect

Wat of lucas rodriguez and muniain, these two players r goin very far. Not to forget oscar emboaba, kevin de bruyne.

tazzmania89 profile image

tazzmania89 Hub Author 2 months ago

this hub is old and a new one is in the works. Lucas is amazing but I have a feeling he's going to stay in Brazil because the country has a lot of money coming in now. The same goes for Oscar. Iker Munian plays for Bilboa and due to their strict signing policy I doubt they would let go of him and I doubt he would leave. Kevin de Bruyne was signed by Chelsea on the last day of the transfer window.

coryburt 2 months ago

i think neymar will be best player in the world in 3 years time or it will be brazillian lucas because they are both insane players.! the are both 18 yrs old and they have great poential.

RyanBoy1997 2 months ago

if manchester city sell some of there players to get more money maybe just maybe like cory said above they could bye neymar he may cost alot but he has a great potential.

RyanBoy1997 2 months ago

or even liverpool could sign a few stunners this season youll never walk alone

coryburt 2 months ago

neymar wont go to manchester city he will go to manchester united or chelsea if he wantas to move to england. but i think he will move to spain e.g. barcalona to play with messi and they that barca team will be insane.

RyanBoy1997 2 months ago

if he goes to barcelona he will have to play for his posiston thats why hes playing for santos thats a small team but he dosnt have to play for his posistion because therse not many good players in santos apart from ganso hes a god:)
